Please Post Responsibly
by Chris Loynd
Please don’t do it. Do not, at least, when it comes to your business. (What you do with your personal time is, well, personal.) But business is business. And the internet is full enough. Have you noticed? Of course you have. Everybody’s posting to the internet and on social media. More and more and more is posted every second. Some 300 to 500 websites are being added to the internet each minute; worldwide more than a billion sites are now online. You can watch them add up live on www.internetlivestats.com. This does not include all the social media posts, tweets, photos, videos, snaps and more. At the end of January, Facebook had 1.87 billion monthly active users and 1.15 billion mobile daily active users, an increase of 23 percent year-over-year (www.statista.com).
So when it comes to your company, please post responsibly. Just posting for the sake of posting, throwing up any random bit of information, sharing generic stuff without putting your own spin on it, actually hurts your overall engagement. Your prospective and existing customers have too much to see on the internet already.
Everybody can see if your post flops, your website is outdated or your brand story is confusing. You need to grab their attention, pique their curiosity, engage their interest and earn their loyalty to ultimately increase sales for your business.
